The Whitney’s design pays tribute to the discovery of Eli Whitney’s cotton gin, and what was once among the most influential spots in the South called “the cotton district,” or “Wall Street of New Orleans.” Influenced by the lanterns that adorned warehouses along the wharfs, the Whitney’s traditional classicism is heightened by clear glass panels that pay homage to the past with its vintage aesthetic.
