Ian Thornton has been exploring how to bring task lights high style, and he has certainly succeeded with the Frey Floor Lamp that is made of steel in a satin black finish with brushed brown accents. The way the off-white shantung shade is fitted to the curving arm is a refined aspect of the design, as it lends the profile a subtle Asian flair. The stacked base has an engineered precision but it also creates a wonderful sense of balance as it extends to the point where the bands holding the shade taper down.
